Simplicity 3790 view C
I’ve made Simplicity 3790 before – you can see the previous incarnations here, here and here. Each time I’ve made view D, E or F. This time I thought I’d give view C a whirl, despite what I’d read on Pattern Review.
Okay, first things first. This is a wadder. For those of you who haven’t heard the term before, a wad is a mass of soft or fibrous material – and this is a wadder, ergo a sewn item mainly suitable for rolling into a ball and throwing in the rubbish bin. Or into the Salvos bin, as I did earlier today. What’s wrong with it you say? Well, take a look!
- all that wrapped over bulk at the front (right where it’s not needed)
- stiffish fabric – should have chosen something softer and drapier
- tight over my ample stomach
- sticky-up sleeve hems
What was right? Well, the colour is nice. The fabric is a basic cotton interlock, the sort used for everyday t-shirts without any lycra or much stretch.
Lesson learned. Although I might use the leftover fabric to make view F…
I made two wadders too yesterday- not even the Salvos would have wanted them so they’re in the bin!
This is a beauty! And the color is just perfect for your skin tone.
I also checked out the pattern, and I really like the long, brown version shown. Like, wow! That’s right up my alley.
Think you’ve got it all wrong Mrs, that looks perfect on you. The shape, the colour – it all looks great.
Yep I agree with Kerry I like it on you. I wouldn’t wad it.
Tee hee! I reckon you’re a bit hard on your ‘wadder’. However, I have now officially adopted that term for any future crafting stuff up…
I thought it looked pretty good- maybe just needed to be a bit “drapier” (yep, sure that’s not a real word) but definitely a nice colour on you!
