In progress in August
What I’m up to so far this month:
Admiring yarn colours from Sarah London‘s Hip to Hook club and working on her Hawaiian Flowers motif.
Assembling my first Sue Ross Block of the Month (BOM) from Material Obsession – I nearly fainted when I received it, as it contains curved pieces, templates, needleturn applique and hand-piecing. Gulp! I’ve made a start – but I’m piecing by machine.
Crocheting a second (larger) red doily for my contribution to The Quilt Project.
Combining the pieces for my Mod Sampler Quilt.
Procrastinating about crocheting this month’s Ravelry afghan blocks – neither of the patterns really inspire me, so I suspect this month will just squeak in once the pressure of a new month comes closer.
Browsing some inspirational craft magazines – and look, there’s a beautiful quilt by Kellie on the cover of Homespun magazine!
Planning on making this coat from this beautiful green wool/cashmere for Stella for next winter, thanks to a very generous friend.
Drooling as I read the recipes in the Homemade, the Handmade Help Recipe Book.
Dreaming of having the time and energy to do everything I’d like to do and be all that I’d like to be.
How about you?
wow – the BOM from Material Obsession looks gorgeous! I’m a bit scared of curved pieces too.
I dream of having more time to do everything I want to too – a 36 hour day would be a great start, as long as working hours didn’t have to increase accordingly!
I’m exhausted just looking at your list (especially the block of the month ekkkk!)!
My to do list this month is:
Bind 3 double bed sized quilts
Finish off my mod sampler quilt
Baste and quilt 2 cot size quilts which are to be gifts for friends
Complete the ruffler top for Maddie
Make a quilt for a friends little boy
Get caught up on the Green Tea and Sweet Beans BOM
hmmmm I’m forgetting something oh…learn to crochet!
x
I am always glad to see I am not the only one that has a zillion different projects going at once, and another zillion in my head, wishing I had lots of time and many hands to do ALL of them!
I’m drooling over your yard colour card. I envy everything with colour. I’m also getting ready for Stitches and Craft. I head off shopping tomorrow! Love everything you have going on.
I’d faint with curved templates too.
Kathy (MO) With all that on the go you don’t like easily intimidated. Dive into those curves…you’ll master them in no time. It was my experience with this block that the outside triangles were super easy to machine piece and the inner circles were doable on the machine but not hard to do by hand where handling is just a bit easier. I love all those old patterns and have some…the thought of them reminds me of flunking out of home-ec! That’s scary! have fun. k
Time and energy – both in very short supply her my dear. I wish someone would list spare time on Etsy!
Personally I’m finding the need to sleep VERY annoying! Imagine the amount of work we could get done!
That zipper fabric is AMAZING!! Where did you get it?!?!?!
I’m drolling over your coat pattern – aaahhh! It looks in mint condition too.
I’m creating a list of things I want to do so long that I hardly know where to begin – but maybe by finishing off a couple of little jackets before the cooler weather is gone would be a good start.
The BOM from Material Obsession does look a bit intimidating! But gorgeous!
There has never been, or ever will be , enough time to finish all we would like to do. I think that is the secret to living a long life (just try to slow us down!)?
Is August going to be long enough for you? You may need one of Ric Rac’s craft clocks!!
Busy girl!!! Love that vintage pattern….
You know, reading through the HOMEMADE recipe book I decided that I should come around to your house for dinner each night. Your recipes look fab.
I am in awe of that yarn!! I just don’t see those colors here in the States. What is the brand? Do you order online?
Also, I went to the Sarah London site but don’t see any link to the Hip to Crochet club. I would love something like that! How did you find it?
I am always inspired when I read your blog! I love to see what you are doing!

being the seamstress that you are Thornberry, the curves will be a piece of cake. Easier than setting in a sleeve or sewing on a neck facing!
I’m like Kate , you do fabulous things. I would like to know more about Sarah’s Hip Hop club also. Keep writing your blog is inspirationlal
