Rosie’s new clothes
I’d like you to meet Rosie. She’s been Clare’s constant companion since her 2nd birthday, and sleeps with her every night. Clare finally decided that Rosie needed some new clothes.
So last time we were at Spotty Clare pored over the pattern catalogues and chose Burda 7753 to make a new outfit for Rosie. I did the pinning but Clare did all the cutting out and sewing.
Other than a little help with the gathers and sewing on the button, Clare has pretty much made these herself! She is so proud, and so am I. She’s also posed and taken the outfit photos – making sure to get a photo of the back as well, of course.
Clare made the jacket first, and was so pleased with the results that she decided to make a coordinating dress as well. The fabrics are soft stable Michael Miller knits. Clare handled these well – so those of you who are afraid of sewing with knits, if an 8 year old can do it, so can you! Just choose a nice stable knit to start off with. Next up for Rosie will be a hat – the weather is very cold at the moment!
Wow! I wish I lived a bit closer, I would ask Clare for lessons. Could you ask if she’s willing to travel 🙂 I’m very impressed.
Awww that’s so adorable. She puts my clothesmaking to shame ha ha!
Well done, Clare! Great outfit.
Amazing!!! I wish I could sew as good as her!
Clare, the clothes you have made for Rosie look really beautiful. I hope you enjoyed sewing them, you have done a great job. I love it when people leave me comments after I have made something and blogged about it, so I thought you might too- via your clever mum!
Awesome work Clare!
It looks like you have done such careful work, and Rosie looks lovely.
What a fabulous job you’ve done Clare!
I love that she sews whilst wearing a party hat. I might try that too. Awesome work.
Fantastic – she’s done a top job!
Clare, you done an amazing job on Rosie’s new wardrobe!
This makes me so happy! Well done Clare! My pattern making teacher was always showing off the clothing her six year old daughter had cut and sewn herself. I hope I’m together enough to remember to teach my kids to sew.
I can’t wait till my kids are interested in sewing – lucky you!
Well done, Clare 🙂 You’re awesome!
Well done Clare the clothes look great.
Great work, Clare – and good on YOU, Lara, for the encouragement. I must admit, the title of this post tweeked my interest for a milli-second, until I remembered that Rosie was Clare’s doll.
That’s fantastic! Way to go, Clare!
Great job Clare!
Maybe now you can get Mum’s machine, and she can get a new one 😉
Absolutely fantastic. I’ve four kids and not a one does anything crafty or homemade. Congrats Clare, you go girl!!!
