Style Arc Simone Knit Cardigan
The Style Arc Simone Knit Cardigan is an excellent pattern. I love it so much that I’ve sewn it four times. These are versions three and four.
The Style Arc website describes this pattern as follows: SIMONE KNIT CARDIGAN: This clever cardigan pattern has been designed so as the drape creates the pocket. An easy every day must have cardi. Make it with or without buttons. FABRIC SUGGESTION & DESCRIPTION: Knit jersey, Slinky or any drapery knit.
The main feature of this cardigan is of course the drape pocket. It’s all cut in one, and with a couple of folds and a few stitches you have a pocket hidden inside a draped fold. I love it!
Both these were sewn in soft ponte. I wouldn’t want to use a much heavier fabric than a ponte, as there is quite a bit of bulk in the hemline where the pockets are formed. I used plenty of pins when I was hemming it and it all sits well.
I sewed size 12. Construction was on the overlocker, with the machine used to twin needle hemlines and to secure the front band. The printed fabric came from Rathdowne Fabrics, and the stripe from Spotlight.
I keep meaning to leave a comment on your blog, and then I get distracted by the next post, and then the next, and all the lovely clothes that you make. I love all the Style-Arc (and other) patterns that you have made up – I’m a huge Lagenlook/Tina Given’s fan, and so many of these patterns will work well with that aesthetic. I do hope that Style-Arc give you some kick back commission, as I have a long list of their patterns that I am now off to buy!
Thanks twotoast! Style Arc do toss an added extra into my orders every now and then, which is nice of them, but I sew with their patterns so much because I really like them!
I’ve had this pattern for ages but always thought it wouldn’t work with a patterned fabric because of the pocket. Your 2 proves me wrong so thanks! I’ll get it out when I sort through my fabrics.
Interesting pattern. The stripes still look horizontal even with the tuck. Both look great!
Lovely! Must blog mine!
I can see why this cardigan has been so successful for you. You may also like the Grainline Driftless pattern. I made it recently and if only I was as productive as you, I would happily have a few more.
I am on holiday at the moment and was looking at this very pattern on their website! I will have to put it on my Wishlist.
Love your Simone cardigan in the digital print. Stunning. I’ve looked through your entire archive. So impressive. Brava.
I’ve had this pattern for a while. I have suitable fabric. I love the cardigan on you. So …it’s on my schedule! I’m thinking October.
Love it! great fabric choices
I have not noticed this pattern but it is quite clever. I shall save to Pinterest. The colors of the multicolor version really flatter you. You have the same coloring as I and find that colors for Autumn’s are often difficult to find. Great look.
