sleeveless Lily

Once, twice, three time a Lily (I’m singing that sentence as I type).

I love this fabric. It’s been sitting in stash for years, and I first used it last year to make a Parfait dress. I adore that dress, but this time last year I weighed 7 kg less than I do now, and since it has a fitted waist it won’t go anywhere near me. So, the Lily dress pattern to the rescue again! But this time, sleeveless.

I had a limited amount of fabric to work with, with a wide border running down one selvedge. Hence, the centre front panel feature! To do this I cut the front in two pieces, with the border running down the centre front, and seamed them together. I did remember to allow for a seam allowance! Then I constructed the dress as per usual, but without sleeves.

The armholes are finished with self bias binding, in exactly the same way as the neckline binding. A perfect dress for a hot Melbourne summer day. As always, I love those pockets!

I cut a Lily dress out for Mum when I was last up visiting – I wonder if she’s sewn it together yet?
