Simplicity 2593
Another item I made when I was at Sewjourn! This top is Simplicity 2593.
The striped silk georgette came from The Fabric Store. Good thing that this was such a simple top, because that stuff is a pain to sew! So light and airy it’s hard to keep the seams where you want them to be. The twisted neck band is applied by hand once the rest of the top is constructed and edges bound. It took me some time to get it right – I was very thankful that there was a dress form available to drape it on!
This fabric is so sheer that I definitely need a camisole underneath – which partly defeats the purpose of making a light, sleeveless summer top for hot days. Oh well.
I might give this pattern another go in a cotton voile or eyelet.
Love the twisted neckline, but have to agree it defeats the purpose if you need another layer…btw its freezing here today…crazy!
Love this! That neckline is divine.
