October practice blocks
Earlier this week I completed my practice blocks for October’s Around the Block quilting bee.
We were asked to do improvisational piecing to make log cabin-esque blocks where all the logs were parallel and perpendicular – no wonkiness this time around. It was fun.
I enjoyed playing around with some Kaffe strips and am looking forward to making a start on the real thing. Louise has sent such gorgeous fabrics!
As always, I have a multitude of crafty projects on my to-do list at the moment. I need to take some pressure off myself. I’ve just stared reality in the face (and the mirror) and joined a gym, so that will no doubt impact on my craft output over the next few months. It is time to get my body into shape and find some strength, flexibility and spark once again. Wish me luck – I loathe exercise!
I can’t bear it either…
Good luck! I hate it too!
Your blocks have an optical illusion effect! I am drawn into the middle!
Good luck with the exercise thing. I think the key to regular exercise is finding exercise you like doing. This is of course quite difficult!!
Lovely looking blocks. Good luck with the exercise. I bit the bullet earlier this year and joined the gym and I really enjoy it. It gives me an hour and a half without the twins (who are in the creche), a chance to watch some tv in peace (!) and just feel better about myself. I hope you enjoy the benefits soon.
All the best with the exercising! I started walking again and OMG it’s made such a difference!!
Hi, I’ve enjoyed reading your blog for quite a while now. This post caught my eye and I ‘starred’ it for future reading. I am participating in my first online quilting bee. None of the particpants have been involved in an online quilting bee before and we are ‘feeling our way’ a little.
Louise’s instructions look really comprehensive and well thought out. They have given me some ideas on what to do when I post out my fabric. Would it be possible for me to read the instructions in full? If you don’t mind you could email me or perhaps post another picture of the full instructions.
Thanks!
