Never say never
When I made some doilies a few weeks back, I probably gave the impression that I would never crochet another. Never say never!
I am taking part in Kirsty’s The Quilt Project, and since embroidery isn’t really my thing (I know how, but generally choose not to) I thought I could contribute something that was very “me” by incorporating crochet into my block.
I decided to crochet a doily to be appliqued to my square, but knew I’d need to do a practice one first. Found some hot pink 4ply cotton from Bendigo Woollen Mills in the stash, a 2.5mm hook, and this pattern. The pineapple motif is an old one in crochet, so my hope is that it comes from a similar era to redwork.
Now onto crocheting the doily again in red – but in which yarn? You’ll have to wait and see.
Oh I can’t wait! Am intending to incorporate crochet into my block too but nothing as elaborate as your doily! The quilt is going to look amazing!

You know doilies are supposed to be so old-fashioned, and maybe it’s just because I am getting old myself, but there is something just so gorgeous about your pink doilie. It’s just so PRETTY.
