Vintage children’s patterns
Shepparton Savers rules in the vintage pattern department. I bought quite a few (um, more than a few) patterns when I was there a few weeks ago – for 69 cents per pattern. These are the children’s ones. Even if I never make them up, I love the illustrations. But I do plan on sewing at least some of them!
Girl’s skirts. I reckon that this one will definitely be used in the future.
Girl’s dresses – Clare has put in an order already for the flutter-sleeved, collarless version in the front. It’s on my list for summer sewing.
Jarmies and dressing gowns! These are destined for Stella. As are the next ones. A great way to avoid branded pj’s.
The last one is for boys – but it’s going to be made soon for Clare. After all, a dressing gown in this style is completely unisex!
I have some 80’s apricot fleecy in my stash that will be perfect for this. Clare’s current dressing gown is way too small now. Should be able to whip this pattern up on the overlocker in no time!
The girls’ pyjama pattern is so sweet! We’re big on peter pan collars here at the moment.
Funny you show this now. I bought a dressing gown pattern recently and my local fabric shop had a special for minky fabric. You buy 2 metres and they gave me 4 free so I ended up with 6 metres for $24. I’m going to make three dressing gowns for my three with them plus some over.
Lovely – gee, at 69 cents a pattern it doesn’t matter how many you bought. I don’t envy your queue though!
My eyes popped when I saw the Style 1430 pattern. On my 10th Birthday my mother gave me that pattern and two pieces of material one which I made up into my very first garment ever, and the other she made up – it was a “good” dress. I can remember those dresses so learly – it was 40 years ago even….the panel lines coming from the shoulders.
You bring back such memories – I have made thousands of garments since then – probably multiple thousands even
Aah. How ancient I am feeling now. I definitely had that Style pattern in my box and many others like it that I used for my girls. I hope someone, somewhere is getting as much joy out of them as you are out of yours. But it sure does make me feel old.
Ooh, they’re sweet.
I do believe that Style 1430 was the pattern for my school uniform – short sleeved or sleeveless version, peter pan collar and no pockets.
I remember some of these from my childhood. Can’t wait to see your fresh take.
Ooh, wish I could get my hands on those – would all be great for my young girls.
I am also slowly working up my courage to make a twin size quilt for my little one’s bed. I seem to have a weakness for fat quarters, now I just need to put them together. I’m thinking a stacking coins quilt – do you think that is a good choice for a random assortment of fabrics?
