Finally I have used some of the cute Aunty Cookie fabric I bought way back at Magnolia Fair. It is combined with a heavier weight plain cotton from Ikea and a print fabric that was waiting patiently in my stash. The photos aren’t great, unfortunately, but I am really pleased with the bag.
The pattern is the Hobo bag from Nicole Mallalieu Design. I lengthened the body of the bag by approximately 2.5 inches, added D-rings to the straps, and included an internal base of fast2fuse, plus bag feet.
The exterior of the bag and the shoulder strap are interfaced with both a light-medium weight interfacing and thin fusible wadding. This bag has a zippered gusset and interior pockets – a mobile phone and slip pocket on one side, and a zippered pocket on the other side. And yes, there is a key fob.
It is so difficult to photograph bag interiors!
I also added a little zipper pull from a scrap of the fabric – I think that it adds a cute touch.
Sewing through all those layers of the straps was a challenge with my domestic machine – it really is doing a sterling job all things considered. All the supplies (interfacings, hardware etc) came from Nikki as well. This bag is a great size for all the STUFF I carry around!
