Sunday Stash #51

Stash additions November 2009

Fabrics from top to bottom: from Anna Maria Horner’s Good Folks; Heather Bailey’s Pop Garden; Heather Ross’s Mendocino; Kaffe Fassett.  Bought here.  The Pop Garden fabric is destined for children’s clothing, and the others for quilts.

The scale of the floral motifs in this fabric is huge!  I’ve included a charm pack in the photo to give you an idea of scale.

I’m sure that all the Melbournites and Victorians are loving the rain.  At our house it is also raining inside the kitchen – the skylight is leaking and there is water all over the floor and the benches.  I think that almost every towel we own is laid out over every flat surface.  I had better things to do today than wash towels and clean up the kitchen.

Sunday Stash #50

Rather than showing you additions to the fabric stash (and don’t worry, that will happen soon – just placed a couple of orders, shhhhhhh don’t tell) I thought you may be interested in some of the additions to my patterns stash.

4 hot patterns

I recently bought these four patterns through Crafty Mamas and I’m really keen to make some clothes for myself.  If only I could work out what size I am and what size I’m likely to stay – I’m praying that all my efforts at the gym will kick in soon and I will lose some of the padding I have accumulated over the past winter, as evidenced by the number of summer clothes that no longer fit me.  These patterns have terrific details and there are videos on YouTube to support their use.  There is more info on the Hot Patterns website.  The first one I’m going to try is the cowl top from this pattern.

Sunday Stash #49

This week’s Sunday Stash is a gift from the very generous Peggy.

Present from Peggy (colourdujour)

My blog was the first one that Peggy came across, back around the time that Stella was born.  She has been unfailingly sweet to me ever since, and clearly she knows me well – just see what she sent me!  Fabric, including those saturated tones of Kaffe Fassett, fantastic black and white Michael Miller damask, crochet books and magazines, and gorgeous green cotton yarn.  All with a beautiful card.  Thank you so much Peggy for thinking of me and for brightening my week.  You are one of life’s special people.

Sunday Stash #48 (on Tuesday)

“The hurrieder I go, the behinder I get”.  Who said that?  It certainly applies here.  This is the most recent pile of half yard Kaffe lovelies I received from Quilt Home.  They had 20% off their Kaffe fabrics, and the Australian dollar is so good at the moment…

More Kaffe from Quilt Home

I’ll show these off in more detail another day.  My craft output has slowed down a little but currently on the cutting table are some bags, dresses, skirts, and quilt blocks.  I’m planning a cutting out frenzy, so after that you should see some more completed projects on the blog.

Sunday Stash #45

I finally succumbed.  After seeing so many lovely examples of items made from Heather Ross’ Far, Far Away fabric, I decided that they would be the perfect choice for Christmas outfits for the girls.

Far, far away by you.

I’m planning on sewing the Swingset tunic and skirt by oliver + s for each of them.  Clare has chosen the unicorns and snails.

Far, far away for Clare by you.

And Stella will be wearing these:

These are high on my list for pre-Christmas sewing!

Sunday Stash #44

Some more fabric from GJs, chosen by Clare for a summer skirt.  Hopefully it won’t stay in the stash for long!

Fairy fabric for Clare - from GJs by you.

I’m going to use the Little Hip Skirts pleated skirt pattern by Favourite Things and alternate the two fabrics around the gores of the skirt.  It’s a great pattern – I reviewed it for Sew, Mama, Sew! a little while back – and should be effective with this pinkness.

The fabric diet has been broken.  I went to GJ’s with Clare on Friday to get some shiny and sparkly material to make her a dress to wear to a disco party.  The remnant tables were full – and I love a remnant table!  Some more stretch fabrics to become clothes for me (with scissors included in the photos for scale):

and this amazing broadcloth that I have no idea what to do with but I loved it.  The pattern is huge and goes right across the fabric width.  Pity I didn’t iron it before taking the photo.

Don’t faint with the shock – I have no new fabrics to show you!  I’ve been drip-feeding my last purchases to Sunday Stash over the past couple of months and haven’t been buying any more, despite the plethora of excellent fabric sales that have been around recently (Nikki has been buying up at those sales instead).  The cupboards are full!  However, I can show you these marvellous Ottobre pattern magazines.

Ottobre Received August/Sept 09 by you.

I recently subscribed to Ottobre through Crafty Mamas after reading many positive reports on their designs.  I am now itching to make something.  Once I get my deadline projects completed I’ll probably begin with some pants for Clare – yes, a miracle has occurred!  After years of exclusively wearing skirts and dresses (with some leggings underneath) Clare has decided that she does want to wear pants occasionally.  Because Ottobre comes from Europe the seasons are back to front for us here in Australia, so there is no pressure to get any of these made before summer – they’re all autumn/winter clothes.
