Beanies by the bucketload
I’ve been churning out beanies by the bucketload. All are from the same pattern – the Divine Hat – and they’re all crocheted in Lincraft Cosy Wool. The yarn is in 100g balls and the hat takes about 3/4 of a ball. I’ve used a 5.5mm hook (5.00mm for the ribbed bands) for all of these, and with this yarn and following the instructions as written they are a small adult or child size hat. First up, one beanie for each of my cousin’s three boys:

then a couple more for my two girls:

and I’m currently working on more for Handmade Help. I modified the pattern to make a toddler-sized beanie for Stella by starting with 13 dc into the ring, instead of 15, and did six instead of seven rows of the 4 dc clusters. I’m going to upsize to a larger adult size a similar way – I’ll start with 16 (or 17) dc into the ring, and maybe add an eighth row of the 4dc clusters. The yarn is nice to work with and comes in a great range of colours, plenty of solids as well as the prints that I’ve used. I know this pattern off by heart now… each beanie takes around 2 1/2 hours to crochet.

They are adorable!!!
Those are so lovely. And I am so happy to have found out you’re a Sew Mama Sew member! I love that blog, and I just ordered a vast pile of fabric from them this afternoon ….
Want, want, want!
It’s all your fault that I’m a raving addict.
>wink<
I absolutely love the colours in the boys hats.
you have been busy Lara . Thanks for the link to the pattern I have a few balls of cosy in my stash – I might just have to get them out.
Well done Emily and a good cause. 🙂 I am a big fan of vari-coloured wool too. I love the colour combinations that occur as I knit.
