Not a successful sewing project
I haven’t finished this bag yet, but I’m not very happy with it at this stage. It hasn’t been lined yet, but it’s just not right. The zip insertion instructions were either quite weird or I didn’t read them correctly, so I’m disappointed with how it has gone in, and the whole thing seems to sag. Maybe it needed interfacing throughout (I only interfaced the pieces specified in the instructions), although this may improve once the lining goes in. I’m glad I didn’t spend much on the fabric (and no, the zip doesn’t match – I just used one I had in the stash, since this bag was really a bit of a trial effort).

Hubby doesn’t think it looks good either – and he’s usually quite enthusiastic about my projects!
I’ll be back on the blog after the Easter break. Maybe I’ll have some more things completed by then (although I somehow doubt it)! Have a great holiday weekend!

It’s not as bad as your thinking it is. It actually looks kida cute. And I LOVE the fabric? Where did you find it?
Thanks Holly! The fabric is from Spotlight – it’s a curtain/furnishing fabric (about $7 per metre I think). I might change my mind and like it a bit more once finished!
Hi Lara,
Projects are always salvagable… I don’t see what you see – it looks fine to me. Maybe it will have more body when it is lined. Maybe we need to have a day for the things we aren’t happy with – like dodgy thursday or something and then we can all air our mishaps and get some help – stay tuned on that one. I have enough mishaps to fill the calendar !
Love that dodgy Thursday idea! There’s always a few of those . . .
