Bleeuughh Blanket
Thank god, the multicoloured crochet squares are all done. I am never, ever going to crochet in this travesty of a yarn again. Here is the June square, in the Lacy Granny pattern.

And all joined together into the “bleeuughh blanket”:

At least with the lacy squares you can get a vague idea of the design – the more solid squares are just a riot of multicoloured acrylic. And of course, when it is all scrunched up you have no idea that I spent all that time following an actual pattern for each square. It’s just bleeuughh!

Not surprisingly for a five-year-old, Clare likes it and her doll Rosie has been wrapped up in it ever since I finished it yesterday. Here’s one last shot, where I tried to make it look a little better by photographing it from a more artsy fartsy angle. I don’t think this trick worked though.

By the way, is anyone else embarrassingly addicted to The Farmer Wants A Wife?

I totally understand treasuring your Nan’s heirloom to you.
I think I share a similar taste to your 5 year old- I love the yarn but I can see what you mean about it being wrong for crochet. The patterns in the blanket are so delicate and lacy. Beautiful work.
Dear Lara, I am saying this with love……you are right, its a bit of an eyeball bleeder isn’t it ? However if I were 5 I would adore it beyond belief.
Yes Me! I’m also (almost) addicted to FWAW! I loved the last series (and I love seeing the yoghurt ads of the two who got married – they seem like such dags!) Don’t let your husband go Near your precious china cabinet. Boys!!!
My name is Danielle and I am a Farmer Wants A Wife Addict!! I am so relieved there are others out there.
Ok, I normally don’t go onto someones blog and tell them someting is bad, but I am going to agree with you with your bleuuuugggghhh blanket. The last artsy shot actually made me a bit queasy…or that might be some of my morning sickness…eh…either way!!!
The only reason the blanket doesn’t, well, “work”, is because the variegated yarn makes it hard to see the wonderful patterns. My only question, is, why did you keep going after you made the first square? LOL
By the way, Farmer Wants a Wife? I’m an addict too. It feels good to get that out :-))
Hi! Wow is that bright!
What are the other patterns used for the other squares? Have you posted it here? I’ll look, I’m always looking for interesting versions of granny squares.
Happy crocheting!
