September BAMCAL squares
There was a fair bit of hooking throughout September – I got the squares from previous months up to date, finished off the September squares, and even crocheted some extras! Now there are only six left to do for the year (two per month) and then I’ll have 30 squares, enough to make a 5 x 6 square blanket. I ran out of a few colours and had to re-order, but now should have enough to finish the year.
The first square for September is called Embracing Variety. I’m a little ho-hum about my version. Nothing particularly wrong with it, but nothing particularly exciting either.
The filler square is the Sweet Peas 12″ Square (a free Ravelry download). This one was a little more complex. The four centre squares are worked first, then joined. I should have paid attention and gone down a hook size where instructed – I had to do a lot of blocking to make my finished square sit flat.
Now the October squares are up – I’d better get cracking! As always, all squares crocheted in Bendigo Woollen Mills Classic 8ply, with a 4.5mm hook.
that’s what i’m up to tonight too!
I looooove the colors! And the yarn gives lovely stitch definition. The finished project is bound to be scrumptious!
I really like these and I like the greens in the first one especially. Thanks for the hint about the hook size I’ll be sure to remember that when I get there. I have three more to do before I hit that one.
I’m thinking of doing 25 squares so I’ll have a 5×5. My blocks are 12″ so it’s going to be huge as is. I really like joining the squares with the flat braiding you blogged about a few years ago. That will make the afghan even bigger. I might see if there is a matching navy to go with my blocks.
