vintage crochet Friday #95
Just in time for summer!
Did you ever have a crocheted bikini? If you did have one, did you actually swim in it? Apparently crocheted bikinis have recently made a come back. I’m not so certain that this is one vintage crochet trend that needs to be revived.

i do wear a regular bikini top underneath though because it tends to get quite heavy and, erm, move.

The crochet bikin..ah, the childhood memories..trying to stop it from stretching and sagging, when wet, and revealing too much!
There are actually some really cool crochet bikinis and monokinis out there today. I like the ones that Lisa Maree is putting out on the runway. That said, I’ve never actually owned one and definitely think that a lot of the handmade ones would have trouble holding up in the water.
Well, I won’t be reviving it!
You really need to send me this as a pdf. I mean, who cares about the kids, I NEED a crochet bikini this summer. Yep. I’m sure it will be totally appropriate…
I don’t think this trend needs to be revived! But very funny to remember.
I did make myself one or two.
I don’t remember ever going in the water in them.
Now I can’t believe I actually wore them in public.
I never will again.
