nabbed
At the moment I prefer to wear dresses to work rather than separates. I don’t like having things around my waist! I had some grey doubleknit (it’s black on the reverse side) from Rathdowne Fabrics and decided to give the Style Arc Laura dress another whirl.
For added interest I topstitched in red thread using a triple straight stitch, and added a huge star shaped doily that I picked up at a local second hand shop. Originally I was going to do some reverse applique around the hemline – but this was much faster! This time I added some width to the back pieces, slashing and spreading the pattern. I think that it’s improved the fit but it’s still not perfect. The front probably could have done with the same alteration.
It’s certainly a statement piece with that doily on the side! My husband calls it “the nab dress” – most Australians will have probably figured out why.
Anyway, it works well with black leggings and boots, a black jacket and red lipstick. I’m happy not to blend in!
I’d like to see you tackle things along a Which Bank? theme!!!
I would love to give this pattern a try too. It looks great on you and the star is a fantastic feature.
What an amazingly good idea with the doily! And yes, NAB, ha ha
Love that dress, it has great shape.
NAB might nab it for their uniform! Looks great!!
So cool and flattering- the embellishment is so clever- love it!
Well I didn’t think of the NAB at al…until you mentioned it!
Love the star! Looks comfy, too.
Awesome dress. I absolutely love it.
Wow. Love it! I didn’t think of NAB until you mentioned it either!
nabbed for sure … maybe it will make you rich(er)!? xx
You are definitely onto a new business opportunity…..just design a tie for the guys and then take your idea to the bank…..
Cute idea with the star!!
LOVE IT! I have a short sleeve hot pink dress with that is so bland by itself around here somewhere… This is really a terrific idea…
Looks great! I thought what a great motif with the star…never even though about NAB…
I have to admit that I didn’t get it although I visited the link. Then I read the comments and went back to the site and realization dawned. I think the the dress fits you wonderfully and the star gives it zing. I like the grey, red and black together.
