New Look 6009 – again!
Although I have a sizeable pattern stash, when I’m on a good thing I like to stick to it. It seems that the patterns I buy are either never used at all or are used at least twice, if not three times. This is New Look 6009, which I last made just a couple of weeks ago.
This is view B, which is a little shorter than view A, the version I made last time. The top of the sleeves has been left open, and there is no casing. I made a tie belt to see how it would look, and can’t decide if I like it better with or without.
Maybe I’ll just wear it either way depending on my mood! The fabric is a lovely embroidered cotton I bought some years ago from Darn Cheap Fabrics. I used it back in December 2007 for Clare’s and Stella’s Christmas dresses, and this is almost the last of it (I may be able to squeeze out just one more small item).
This will be the last time I use this pattern – for the moment at least – since I have some other tops at home cut out and waiting to be sewn together when we return from holidays. So many patterns, so little time. My mother thinks that this year I should concentrate on sewing for myself instead of for the girls – sounds good to me! I’ve found the sewing summaries that many bloggers have written to be fascinating – it’s rather astounding (and impressive) how many garments some people sew per year. Maybe one day I too will sit down and work out just how much I make, and in what categories!
Happy New Year to you all!
Hmm, you’re selling that pattern to me, I love the white. I guess I culdn’t picture it in a cotton, which I like, so I wasn’t sure. I like it with and without the belt, you’re right, go fo the mood! And such a cute little girl’s bedroom, they’re so close, they must love sharing a room! I’m the same, I haven’t added up what I’ve made, and don’t have pics of it all to show off, I put it down to being to lazy for myself haha. Happy 2011 of sewing!
see, that’s vision. You should be on the cover of that pattern! Gee, I think your list of completed projects would be extremely long! Happy New Year Lara x
Definitely love the belt!! Love a bow at the front – very cute and fun! Happy New Sewing Year to you!!
How’s the ATB Quilt going???
Looks good both ways but especially like the belt version..
Lara,
I love this top. Too bad it is freezing here. I will have to remember this come spring.
The top looks great. I like it with the belt. It gives you some definition. My goal is to sew more for myself this year and less for my girls. I do like the quick satisfaction of making kids clothes but I then don’t have time to make myself anything. Happy New Year to you and your family. I look forward to seeing everything you make this year.
Love it. Belted or not.
And yes – more clothes for YOU in 2011!!!!
Your list would be amazing lara ! How is the 15th looking for you?
Looks lovely! I like it with the belt.
I wonder how you’ll go sewing more for yourself than the girls. You’ll be staying around the same size while they’ll be growing out of stuff!
Oh yes – you should sew more for you! I absolutely love this pattern on you Lara – and the white looks great! I love it both with the tie and without – perhaps the tie is more for dressed up times, but the untied is for warmer days? Can’t wait to see what else you have planned on your cut out pile.
Happy new year!!
I like this one probably because of the material choice. I like it both ways but probably prefer without the belt because it sits at just the right length on the pants for me. Reading the other posts we’re all different aren’t we?
