My creative space…
There is a yarn explosion taking place in my sewing room and beside my armchair. There is a fabric explosion taking place in the sewing room shelves. There are crochet pattern explosions taking place in my Ravelry queue and my sewing to-do list is expanding at hyperspeed. At least the sewn projects usually take less time than the crocheted ones. On Sunday night I decided I needed to try out one of my newest patterns, Jalie 2921.
The fabric was a remnant from my stash and I suspect it has an extremely high polyester content. It’s fairly hefty so perfect for a winter top. My cutting layout was limited by a hole in the centre of the fabric and as a result I had to cut the sleeves shorter than planned, but I was able to make up for it by adding wide cuffs. The ties are also much shorter than in the pattern. Sometimes you’ve just got to adjust things depending on the materials at hand!
I used size W with no alteration, and turned up a two inch hem. I am falling in love with Jalie patterns – they’re fantastic for knit fabrics and more excitedly, they seem to fit me well! The buckle is a vintage one from my stash. I wish I could remember who gave it to me!
I wore this to work on Monday. When I look at the photos I’m not so sure about the print – I think it looks a bit old for me – but it was comfortable and coordinates with many of my clothes.
Visit some more creative spaces over at Kirsty’s. I’m currently in love with her broomstick crochet cuff. I’ve been planning on trying broomstick crochet – and hairpin crochet, and tunisian crochet – ever since buying Doris Chan’s book Crochet Lace Innovations. I should have known that Kirsty would beat me to it! She’s a trend-setter, not a follower.
But a confession – I recently bought some circular knitting needles … I’m tempted to be unfaithful to the hook. Blame it on Ravelry…
oooh – yarn bigamy! Go on, spice it up 😉
Do it do it…I feel bad for spending more time with the circs too but it’s oh so satisfying…..I blame it all on ravelry too…
Love the top btw!

This is very impressive work! It must feel good to wear your own creation. I’ve only followed a pattern twice (for my kids). One day!
