My granny shrug
Here’s my version of Kirsty’s Granny Shrug.
It’s crocheted with a 15mm hook, using two strands of Patons Jet (wool/alpaca 12 ply) held together. It took around 10 balls of yarn. I worked 8 rounds for each half and got very loose and drapey fabric with super chunky trebles. Just what I was hoping for!
I seamed up the back and along the top of the sleeves in dc (US sc) using a 12mm hook, and did dc around the back of the neck as well to stabilise. That’s it! It’s been very warm and toasty today – a little like wearing a granny square blanket.
Thanks go to Kirsty for attacking the challenge of “how do you make this?” with such relish and coming up with terrific instructions and sharing them so freely. Thanks also Kirsty for letting me be part of the granny shrug adventure! You’re ace.
I just love this shrug – it looks fantastic, Lara! I can’t wait to finish mine (though on past history, it might take a year or two!!)
It looks gorgeous! I am positively itching to make one but am holding off until I finish at least one of my crochet WIP’s and then it will be my reward.
YOU ARE ACE! x

it looks great – i love this pattern – and i have it on my list!
greetings gudrun
Hi Lara – I started the shrug tonight – I just thought that I would ask – was there a reason why you turn at each row – it would mean that the 2nd and fourth rows are showing on the rights side as wrong???
Or should I just do it -I am assuming there is a reason for it
Love Kylie
PS – I posted this in Rav as well:)
now I HAVE TO learn to crochet! just ordered a book for beginners and watching a bit of youtube! btw, you look amazing in this!!
