Show me your glamour photos!
Over on the Crochet Lovers Victoria thread on Ravelry we have been sharing our 80s/90s “glamour” and formal photos. So I thought I might share some over here as well! I had these taken in the early 90s when I was around 23 or 24 and thought that I would never possibly look as good again as I did then (ha!). So along I went to the studio where they did my hair, trowelled on the makeup, and artfully draped me in swathes of evening fabrics before taking loads of photos with flattering lighting.
Have you fallen off your chair laughing yet? But don’t laugh too loudly, because I’d love to see YOURS too! Come on, those of you who have some glamour photos lurking in your closet, post them on your blog and leave me a comment with a link so I can giggle right back at you.
OMG, seriously!!!! Panic!! I do have some hidden well somewhere. Not sure they will appear on my blog but I must hunt them out for a laugh.
OMG Lara,, they’re just fabulous! I’ve never had glamour photos, but I did have that fringe that you’re sporting in the second one.
Ha ha ha! I admit I thought you were looking really quite nice until the second photo popped up and I saw that fringe. And then I fell off my chair. Because that really was the ultimate 80s fringe. You were VERY trendy for your time, my dear.
I do have some, somewhere, taken by a photographer friend. But fingers crossed by the time I find them everyone will have moved on.
Great post!
Oh dear!!! Wow! The facial expressions! They’re great 🙂
That fringe is just the best! I have to admit I had one just like it….. oh dear!
Love them! I’ve never had any done, only the wedding photo’s from around the same age and I had better not blog those. I hope a few more bloggers are brave
You already fished out the bogan wedding shots so I’ll just return the giggle for now. xx
I am getting under the stairs to see if I can dig out the formal photos. Who didn’t have the ”ride the wave” fringe of the 90’s. No wonder the ozone ended up in trouble
oh I did laugh!sorry!!!!! the first was lovely and then it was sooo funny! my wedding day photos are my most glamorous but never had the professional glamour shot!!!!!!!!!!
you are oh so brave for sharing!!!!!!!!!!
why would i laugh, thought I…they’re lovely. then i saw image number two….hehehehehe…….that pose, that fringe!
I’ll have to hunt one down too. ( :
These are TREASURES, Lara!! A real slice of history.
I had a fringe like that, only longer and higher….
Lara!! You glamourpuss!!!! Yes, I had the soft light photos done for my 21st, and much to my horror Dad still has one out at home. Fortunately for me, none here at our house, but my hair was long, very curly and had the puff at the front. I remember being asked in the loo at a nightclub how I did it, and I gave the girl a demo – where I put the heel of my hand onto my hairline on my forehead and rubbed hard in a circle!! yikes!!! just tried it and it still works!!
Thanks for sharing!!
and loved both the pattern and no-pattern tops! I’ll be posting over the weekend something you might like too with a little ruffle around the neck and down the centre front.
HNY! and hope Clare has a wonderful birthday.

I don’t have glam shots, but I do have prom pictures (poofy bangs, poofy dress and chicken legs) and a senior picture. They are on facebook for the world to laugh at, since mostly all my ‘friends’ on there are from high school no one of them has any room to be critical.
And actually, I thought you looked pretty beautiful.
Oh, your shots are just beautiful! I always wanted to do that and still wish I had. ‘Cuz doing them now at 47 would be very different from what they would have, could have been, to say the least.
I’ll just stick with my wedding photos, which came out well. But not glamorous.
Thanks for sharing.

The question is …did you have huge copies blown up for above the master bed….I once looked at a house where is was wall to wall glamour shots , and they got racier as you moved through the house….
Well Lara I was never brave enough for the ‘glamour shot’ too busy trying to be cool and wear my hair all over my face. Still, for those who pursued them I can only acknowledge hose young women had better self esteem than I probably did…….
I’m not laughing a bit!!! Even though the hairstyle is ‘dated’ I think you look super! I never had this done myself but I know all of my friends who did; still laugh about it. Oh, well, it was a great marketing ploy wasn’t it?
