Additions to my crochet library
I do enjoy a good crochet book. Mr Thornberry gave me these ones for Christmas.
I’m already working on my fourth motif from this book. Loads of fun stuff, and a little more challenging than I’ve done previously. That doesn’t mean that they are necessarily difficult; rather, they use some techniques and stitch combinations I haven’t attempted before. Excellent book!
Ooooh, nice projects! I have been inspired to combine sewn and crocheted projects lately by some talented crafters I’ve seen around the blogs, and this book provides plenty of additional inspiration and instruction. Maybe I’ll start with something for me?
This book is full of garments. Some are great, others not for me, but overall I like most of them. This girl’s bolero jacket is superb.
The back is a huge spiral. And at the rate I’m going, it might even be done for one of the girls for winter – after all, I’ve got six months before then!
Mum gave me Prudence Mapstone’s marvellous book on freeform knitting and crochet, along with some astounding Habu viscose paper yarn.
My plan is to make a freeform vest from it, much like the one Prudence was wearing herself at the craft show when Mum bought it for me. I love it! Ah, so many plans, so few hours in the day.
Wow – that yarn looks amazing. And those books look pretty inspiring – even to a non-hooker like me!
I can’t picture what an article of clothing made out of that yarn would look like. It looks like raffia, like something you’d make a retro handbag out of…is it soft? Keep us posted. I’m so curious.

Lara, you are going to be busy !
Gorgeous books to keep you inspired and busy for a long time. I’m green with envy! But I’m most interested to see how your Habu vest turns out. Would you please do a swatch of the yarn and show it here soon? Please, pretty please…. :o)
