A blouse for me

Yippee!  Something for me!  I have had this blouse cut out for years – probably two or three!  Now I’ve put it together I’m wondering what took me so long!

The pattern is New Look 6205.  I made version E.  I suspect that this pattern is well and truly out of print – I think I bought it around four years ago.

If I leave it unbuttoned one side sits back nicely but the other stays close to the neck.  Probably due to the bias binding around the neckline, I think.  I’ll probably wear it done up.

The fabric is a mystery semi-sheer that I bought very cheaply (around $2 per metre from memory) at my favourite dress fabrics shop, Darn Cheap Fabrics.  There is a fine gold thread running through it, which is difficult to see in the photos.  And now for a close-up of the neckline:

The soft gathers into the neckline are a very nice feature, and work well with the binding and self-covered button.  I really like this pattern – it fits me well, and I’ll probably make it again.  I made it according to the pattern but without the back darts and back tie (I am short-waisted and thick through the middle, so don’t need the darts to define the shape I don’t have).  It was easy to make but the details lift it above the ordinary.
