Sleeveless romper-dress with collar

I’ve finished another version of Simplicity 5115.  It looks okay from the front, but I’m not so happy about the finish from the back.

It seems that each time that I make something (anything, not just three versions of the same pattern) there is something not quite right.  In this case, the back collar pieces are each slightly different distances from the centre back.  Bugger.  I should really be doing more hand-basting before I sew things.  It’s only a couple of millimetres, but I notice.  The collar isn’t quite as rounded as I would like either – I clipped the seams before turning the pieces inside out, but should have probably graded them closer to the seam rather than clipping them.  The snap tape at the crotch isn’t sewn quite as neatly as I’d like either. And I should have folded the bias tape to half that width before using it to face the armhole edges.

At least I know what not to do next time.  I think it will still look nice on, and be lovely and cool.  Maybe I’m just having a picky day.
