Keeping the tea cosy
Tea cosies look great and they’re practical! Not that I drink tea very often – I like my long black decaf coffee.
The pattern is a free one available here – it’s by a generous Australian known as Crochetroo. She’s kindly provided the pattern in both Australian/UK terms and US terms. I’ve become quite “bilingual” with crochet terminology to the extent that I wasn’t certain which I should follow! I used a 4mm hook with 8 ply wool and acrylic. My tea cosy turned out fairly small – I think it’s important to measure your teapot and then adjust the length of your starting chain according. It could have done with another couple of rows of the scallops as well.
The scallops were a little tricky when I started off, but I quickly got into the groove! I’d like to have another go at this pattern and make a much larger tea cosy. But I have so many projects in the crochet queue already it may have to wait.
I love it! Thanks for the pattern link – will definitely be checking this one out…
Oh Lara, I love it – thanks for the pattern link. I too have a long queue of projects but I’d love to try it.
ACK !!! I love it !!!! It is just perfectly cosy ! Really really love it lara!
Hi Lara! It was so lovely to meet you on Saturday. I’ve come to check out your blog and fallen in love with that tea cosy!! It’s bright and happy and gorgeous and perfect. I can’t believe you made it! As a non-crochet-er, it looks absolutely impossible. You’ve got some serious talent!! xxx
This is so cute! I have just started crocheting again after many years of just doing little flowers and other small items for my scrapbooking, so I don’t think I am up to the challenge yet. But I did get a nice and easy pattern for making potholders I might try after I get over the bag-craze!
