Style Arc Adeline (again)
This is the fourth Adeline that I have sewn – but I daresay that it will not be the last! I’ve sewn two for me (one now resides in my cousin’s wardrobe) and one for my Mum. Mum definitely wants another one too!
Because I’ve sewn this dress so many times it was actually very quick to sew it again. I used the shortened pattern that I used last time, in size 12. No other alterations.
I really do love this pattern. It’s such an easy style to wear! The V neckline is terrific – I stitch the facing down to provide a nice topstitching detail. Not that you can really see the topstitching on this fabric!
From the Style Arc website: Great designer style dress which is easy to sew and wear. The slight cocoon shape and its roll up sleeve makes give this style a casual but trendy look. FABRIC SUGGESTION Linen, Silk, Crepe.
Isn’t that fabric superb? It’s African wax cotton that my sister-in-law Jeanette brought back from Dusseldorf when she visited Europe earlier in the year. She’s great at giving me fabric souvenirs from her travels! And she actually brought back enough of the fabric for both of us to make and Adeline – hers is in progress as I type! Matchy-matchy sister-in-law! It makes me giggle every time I think of it. And yes – we will get photos.
Once again I have nothing but praise for this pattern. It’s terrific.
no bust darts?
No bust darts. I’m a C cup and Mum is a DD and we are both okay in this dress without bust darts. It wouldn’t be hard to do a FBA if you wanted one though.
Thanks. It looks really cute on you, I might have to try that pattern! I appreciate and enjoy all of your posts.
First, that fabric is irresistible! Blue and orange is my favorite color combo so I was drawn in immediately. Second….Im thinking of buying this pattern but shortening it to tunic length or about 36″ long for my tall self. Do you think it would work? It is so flattering on you and that is unusual for such a simple, unfitted shape pattern…they usually are not very flattering at all. I was thinking of a lightweight soft denim.
Ohhh, this is one of the coolest Adeline’s I have seen! Well done. That fabric and colorway is fantastic on you! What a great travel gift! I’m in the the middle of making one in a indigo tie dye fabric for my mom for a christmas gift. It’s come together so quickly and I loved the shape so much I got the pattern my size as well! 😉
Bingo….I made Adeline last week too but with Japanese Linen from The Cloth Shop, alas, I had lots of trouble with the Style Arc PDF Download. I’ve contacted them to get advice on where I may have gone wrong. But yes it’s a great shape for my size 18 bod!!
Another lovely dress!!
I agree it’s a great pattern. I have two and would be happy to make a third. For me adding a FBA is an annoyance, but none needed in this pattern.
I was prowling the Vlisco fabrics website just last night looking for a Dutch wax print for this very pattern! Now that I see your stunning version I will have to double my efforts.
