I’ve made then Tessuti Tokyo jacket before, back in 2014.  Although I haven’t worn that one a great deal, I knew it was a function of the print choice, and that eventually I would sew another.  I originally hoped to have this one finished before our trip to Kingscliff last year.  I didn’t manage to get it done then, but it was finished before I went to Bali so filled the role of “aeroplane jacket” beautifully.

The fabric that I used this time came from Darn Cheap Fabrics. It’s a printed jacquard woven cotton, with a teensy bit of stretch. I really liked the colours in the print, and thought that the subject matter was rather whimsical. Flowers, leaves, acorns and deer! Okay…

Tessuti’s description of the pattern from their website is as follows: Our Tokyo Jacket is a loose fitting, relaxed jacket with three-quarter length magyar sleeves. The neckline, cuffs and pockets are trimmed with a band that provides smart and simple detailing. This jacket is suitable for all ages and can be dressed up or down. Best made up in drapey fabrics such as viscose, polyester, wool crepe as well as medium weight silk. Not suitable for jersey fabrics.

I think that I remembered to downsize to a Medium for this jacket – the first time I sewed a Large.  It’s very easy to wear, and straightforward to sew.  I think I’d like to make it again one day in something super drapey like a viscose but in a solid colour.  We’ll see!  It’s very easy to wear with it’s oversized and slouchy shape.
