diversion – Lekala 4331 dress in progress
It seems that I am often powerless when presented with a knit dress pattern. As some diversion from my Lekala jacket, I sewed up most of Lekala 4331 “dress with batwing sleeves” last night. Here is the pattern drawing:
And here is my version so far.
Okay, if it is that fitted on Ada through the mid-section and skirt, I am unlikely to wear it. I have tried it on and the top fits well. What do you think – should I cut off the skirt part and add a band in the contrast fabric and turn it into a top?
What a shame. Yes you should.
Don’t lose that top- it’s wonderful! Even without a contrast it would be lovely.
Looks like a great top (dress).
Yes. Be a shame to ever wear the awesome printed bit.
I like the idea of making it a top but without the band in the contrast fabric
I agree, with the above commenter, just cut it off and hem it. The contrasting hem may draw the eye away from the lovely yoke detail.
Do what you think is best…but I’d hate for you to lose all that hard work.
I’m with the chop and hem group… I had a giggle about powerless.
Depends how you feel about the figure hugging fit! I think the chop probably. No point leaving it as a dress you won’t wear. Love the cut though.
I think this pattern is lovely. Any chance you can keep the triangular side panels and lose the skirt part? It could make a cool layering piece and I would think the diagonal lines would be slimming…
If you can’t see yourself sending it to me, then I agree with the others that cutting it to top or tunic length, hemming and wearing is the way to go. I love it!
