another weekend getaway….
Another Weekend Getaway blouse, anyway! And yes, it was the perfect palate cleanser. (Thanks for your supportive and helpful comments about my skirt, by the way!)
Oh, a headless photo! Well, it was taken at the end of the day. This time I made the blouse in printed rayon from Darn Cheap Fabrics. I love the way that rayon drapes and flows against the skin. It doesn’t cling, but it doesn’t stand away from the body either. I think it’s rather flattering! And this style is definitely a good one for me. The v-neckline with simple collar, the vertical pleated feature at the front, and the gentle bust dart and side seam shaping. I think it’s a winner. And yes, I did pay attention to matching the colours of the print when I cut out the top, so that they would flow from front to back and across the facings/collar. Points to me!
That little inverted and topstitched pleat at the centre back is rather lovely too. I sewed this up in exactly the same size as last time, size 12 with a C cup FBA. Sewing time was one and a quarter hours, from start to finish – although that doesn’t include cutting out time. I know because I decided to make this just before heading off to Thanksgiving/Christmas lunch. Nothing like a deadline!
So these photos are taken after a full afternoon of turkey with all the trimmings and pumpkin pie. Yummmmmm…….my nephew and his American girlfriend did a stellar job of introducing the Australian family to the joys of Thanksgiving food. And the elastic waist of my rayon trousers was a great combination for the food and drink – and for my new top!
Looks great! I’ve just blogged my version of this in a silk cotton from Spotlight (the odds & ends bin). Such a lovely pattern and SO EASY!
Love that top, a perfect combination of fabric and pattern. I hope they made green bean casserole for all of you (an American Thanksgiving tradition).
You look so much happier in this outfit. I’m really pleased for you.
The fabric is a great choice. I had a look at the pattern site and like the dress version as well.
What a great blouse! Perfect for wearing while enjoying a lovely big family meal too. You did a great job lining up the print.
Beautiful blouse. I think you have sold me on this pattern. Love your fabric choice too.
I want that pattern!!!
