what I wore

what I wore – week 31

Every week is passing faster than the next.  My husband’s surgery went well on Friday, and he is now kidney stone (and stent) free.  He even managed to go back to work today!  So maybe our household is finally returning to a semblance of normality.

what I wore - week 31
What I wear each day is a little challenging at the moment, because I have clearly pinpointed that I use food and wine as a coping mechanism for stress. I’ve added another couple of kilos to the few that I put on while we were in Bali in early June. My winter clothes are usually more roomy than my summer ones, and tend to be made of stretchier and more forgiving fabrics, so although my clothes are still fitting they are not looking as good or feeling quite as comfortable. And there is no way that my summer clothes are going to fit me unless I do something a little drastic over the next few months. I’ve been lucky enough to have been selected to attend a work conference at Surfer’s Paradise at the end of October, so am using that as a goal to motivate me a little – and the fact that I’ve now tipped over from “healthy range” to “overweight” on the scales.  My focus with weight management is about my health, not my looks (although they are a nice side-effect) – and I’m currently not as healthy as I could be and have been before.  At least I know that I’ve lost weight and got fit before, and I can do it again.  Just finding the head space.

crochet

I am officially a Ravthlete!

Well, I was never going to be an athlete, but at least I can be a Ravthlete!  I’ve been taking part in the Ravellenic Games over on Ravelry.  So far I’ve manage to crochet the following:

Wintergreen Cowl

Wintergreen Cowl – my first go at crocheting Bruges lace (albeit at a much larger ply and gauge than usual):

Snowflake Beret

Snowflake Beret (it is SO difficult to photograph berets!):

Cabled Mitts

Cabled Mitts (which were a good lesson in following the instructions regarding hook size and working a gauge swatch first).

All crocheted in Bendigo Woollen Mills Rustic, in the Midnight Tweed colourway.  All the above links take you to my Ravelry project pages for more information.
