I haven’t sewn a stitch for well over four weeks now – all the garments I’ve posted lately were made a couple of months ago – and I’m starting to suffer withdrawal symptoms. There are some patchwork triangles on my cutting board waiting to be sewn together, but garments? Nada. But thanks to flickr, I can show you my third version of Vogue 8634, made and photographed back in July.
I sewed this in a stretch mesh that was in my stash. Because it was a little sheer, I cut out the front and back twice each then treated them as one in the remainder of the assembly process. Unfortunately when I turned up the hem and stitched it into place, the layers moved and the hem doesn’t sit nice and flat. As soon as these photos were taken I unpicked the hemstitching, then just cut the hem off nice and straight with a rotary cutter. It doesn’t need hemming at all – that mesh doesn’t fray! It sits much more nicely now – I need to take some after photos.
I figure that three times is possibly enough from this pattern. I always feel good in these tops, and like the slightly sheer sleeves in this rendition.
