toiletries bag
Lookee, it’s the Toiletries Bag from You Sew Girl! But in our house it’s not a toiletries bag – instead, for the past few weeks it has been Clare’s embroidery bag, holding her current sashiko project.
There were a few bits that could have been tricky if not for Nikki’s clear instructions and diagrams. I’ve never done bound seams on a bag like this before, and I’m really pleased with the finished result. I sewed the binding down by hand and it was worth the little bit of extra time.
The gorgeous outer fabric was one of the goodies I received at Sew It Together; it was generously donated by Corrie of Retromummy. I used a Martha Negley vegetable printed cotton for the inside and binding. I think that I’ll make another one for Stella for her 4th birthday in a few weeks time – maybe if I pop a toothbrush and toothpaste inside a very cute bag she’ll be more interested in dental hygiene….
looks great Lara. Lucky Clare and I am impressed she’s into sashiko!
What a pretty bag! I got my copy of the book yesterday and am busy planning my first project!!
Lucky Clare !!! The fabric is gorgeous.
LOVE the fabric. Clever you – I’ve never done binding like that either. I might have to step into the unknown.
ha ha! – that last comment about dental hygiene made me laugh!
Lovely little bag – and really cute fabric.
Very cute! and will we be seeing this at Sewjourn?
Oh, I’m SO GLAD I can still teach someone as savvy as YOU a few new tricks!! 🙂
And I LOVE that fabric!!
Lovely! I’m starting to think I need a copy of this book too! I flipped through it in the bookstore and wondered if I’d ever have time to make anything, but now I’m seeing your gorgeous creations I’m very tempted!
