mother and daughter explorers
On the weekend Clare and I went to our first Brownie Guide mother/daughter explorer camp. What fun was had by all! The weather was perfect, the activities were fun, it was all extremely nostalgic, and the people were terrific.
Clare made her Guide promise, and all in all it was a highly successful weekend. I am astounded at all the young women (only in their 20s) who volunteer as Brownie and Guide leaders – they were so dedicated to our girls and arranged a wonderful camp. Yesterday was International Women’s Day and I was reflecting on the leaders and their achievements and contribution to todays young girls. Very impressive.
The girls worked together so beautifully in their patrols and tackled all the challenges of camp with enthusiasm. Clare can’t wait for the next one (although it’s taken me about three days to recover)!
Oh Lara!!! I had so many good memories reading your post!!!! I used to be a Brownie girl so many years ago… and then a Guide! I’m really impressed that you’re daughter is going to that in Australia, and I used to go to that in Mexico. I’ve always knew that this is a world wide movement, but I’m impressed right now.
Thanks for sharing!!!
Shanti
Lara , did you have to climb over those tires ???
Just look at your big girl!! Great photos, Lara.
So glad the traditions are being passed down through the ages. Great memories being created. Excellent work girls. Pete has just joined Scouts this year and is yet to make his promise!
Your post brought back wonderful memories for me of my time as a brownie and then guide. So pleased it was a great success!
Looks like great fun!
I have been thinking of guides for my 7 year old, I just hope I don’t have to climb the tires.
Simply wonderful and it will remain a fantastic memory for you both for all time.
Oh, so fun! So exciting! So memorable! You (and she) will never forget this time spent together. You are both so blessed to have each other and this special memory!
