New Look 6797 again
I find it difficult to resist making Clare a new dress when she has a party to attend. We went to a 4th birthday party last weekend, and at the last minute (well, a couple of hours beforehand) I sewed up New Look 6797 for her to wear.
I’ve made this before, and cut the same size again but exchanged the sleeves for those from New Look 6747 to give a little more warmth for winter. They’re an interesting flared shape – in the original pattern the top seam is left open to give a slit at the top of the sleeve, but we left that out and sewed it up. I also modified the pattern by making the middriff band go right around the dress.
The main fabric is a stretch velvet remnant I found at GJs and the contrast trim is another remant with an extremely high lycra content found at the same remnant sale. Clare had fun styling her new dress and had a ball at the party.
One cute little dress – lucky girl to have a ready-made seamstress on hand for those important events ☺
Love the leg kick in the middle photo- Clare looks so happy. You’re a luverly Mum!
Ah, you’re so talented (and Clare is so adorable)! I love seeing what you whip up – I think you’re amazing (in a totally non-stalker way) 🙂
It looks fantastic! I’m so inspired by your talent to whip things up 🙂
I also spotted you in the ‘Making it Handmade’ doco that was showing today in Melbourne!
Doesn’t she just look fantastic!
As Lee said, ‘in a non-stalker way’ – you are really amazing. I can’t imagine being able to whip up a dress before a party! Clare is so lucky, and such a great model 🙂
