My creative space has been all about the hook again. When little sick Stella asked for a pink poncho last week, I could hardly refuse.  We went up to my 8ply stash and chose seven shades of pink, predominantly in wool, with one acrylic and one cotton/wool/lycra blend.  I found a 5mm hook and started to crochet.  A couple of days later we had this.

It’s your basic granny-square type of poncho. I started with 60 foundation single crochet (US terms), joined them into a ring, did a round of US dc, then began on the 3dc groups into every third chain, increasing at the centre front and the centre back. Changed colour every round, with two of the pale pinks followed by three of the deeper pinks, until it looked big enough.  I finished off with a row of US sc in the same pale pink as the last round of 3dc groups, then did a row of hdc in each of three deeper pinks to finish off. Add a twisted cord threaded through the neckline dc’s and a couple of pom-poms and ta-da!

She won’t even try it on.
