Party purse

Nikki’s latest pattern is The Party Purse (although I still think it could have been called the Croissant).  And yes, I got to test out the pattern!  My first version was made in quilting cotton, without the gathered overlay.

Nikki has a nifty way of doing the zipper for this purse. Because of the darted bottom it’s surprising how much you can fit inside it.

But not to stop there, I made one with a gathered overlay on both sides, from a slippery satin.

Since I don’t find myself at all that many parties (other than those held for children under 5, which require a huge nappy bag rather than a nifty, cute wristlet) I’m already using these bags as mini project bags. They’d also be great for cosmetics or jewellery pouches.  Of course Clare and Stella are trying to appropriate them for their own use.

You can order a copy of the pattern here or pick one up from Nikki in person at Stitches.  If you see me wandering around at Stitches on Friday with a fractious toddler in a stroller do say hello – and if you’re there on Saturday, I’ll be helping Nikki on her stand and would love to have a chat! (While working very hard of course Nikki).

Lastly, I would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who has left such lovely messages of condolence and support after my last post.  I am really touched by your sentiments.  My husband and mother-in-law have also appreciated your comments.  Thank you so much.
