Mabel
Mabel is a cushion designed by Sarah London. When I first saw the pattern on her blog I knew I’d need to make it – those changing rows of colour! That groovy looped chain feature!
I mainly used yarns from stash, but they’re all 100% wool, in 8 ply. A couple are by Biggan Design and the rest are Spotlight/Moda Vera 8 ply Basics (which is a great low priced wool terrific for cushions and blankets, and the colour range is excellent at the moment). The back is all in one colour.
The couch in the sewing room is rapidly filling up with crocheted cushions now! All the better to hide the ghastly fabric covering the couch (it came to me with hubby over 12 years ago and as much as I love him, I don’t love the look of the couch). I squeezed a square cushion insert into the cushion because I didn’t have a round one handy – a round one would have been much better (shall be ordering some for future cushion creation).
Cushions are so satisfying to crochet – functional, a great way to play with colour, portable, yet finishable (I’m yet to complete last year’s CAL afghan).
Stunning Lara! Cannot WAIT to finish mine!
Oh Wow! I have got to make some of these, thank you for the great idea. Better than just sewing up cushions, this pattern looks great.
I’m sorry Lara, I couldn’t take my eyes of your tree cushion – is that your Kelly workshop one??? I LOVE it!
darling! just darling! I love this cushion so so much!
Stunning Lara! The colours are gorgeous too. I’m officially inspired.
Hi Lara – someone was discussing the difficulty of finding round cushion inserts on the weekend, and I remembered you had made this cushion. I’d be interested to know if you found any.
Where can you get the mable cusion pattern
Hi Linda – contact Sarah London as per the link in my blog post (or Google her) – she sells the pattern! Good luck.
