New Look 6822
I’m slowly but surely working my way through the already-cut-out-just-waiting-to-be-sewn-up projects that are piled up on the right hand side of my sewing table. I really want to get my works in progress finished, mainly so that I can work on new things (mostly on clothes for me). This one is New Look 6822, for Clare.
This pattern is for stretch fabrics, and I had the perfect sized piece of cotton interlock (from Crafty Mamas) in my stash. Style options include a dress with a hood and a top.
This was super simple. The neckline is faced with bias binding and the front closes with a ribbon tie. The sleeves are easy to set in because the sleeve cap is gathered. I finished the sleeve and hem with a lettuce edge on my overlocker. It’s the first time I’ve done lettuce edging and it was easy and effective – yay!
Clare screwed up her nose when she saw it since “it would have been much better if the flowers were pink”. I was most unimpressed! We have been having a few discussions lately about being grateful and thankful for all the things that we are lucky enough to have and receive. Let’s hope that some of our chats are sinking in!
Really cute!
How sweet. The pattern looks as if it would make a sweet little nighty too. (Not that she looks like she is wearing a nighty!!!!!) Love the edging, I’m yet to try that on the overlocker. I have mastered the rolled hem though.
I love it how your kids are such good models for your beautiful work. Always ready to do a twirl!
It’s great!! I’m curious about what edges my overlocker does now- I’ve hardly played with it at all.
She looks adorable. I think the print is fabulous – but my girls have pulled the same stunt on me –
The dress is wonderful! So is the model.
Tell Miss Claire that one thing to be thankful for with that dress is that she can wear it and look great in it! That wouldn’t be the case with that fabric in my world:)
still chuckling about the pink line. I just want to give her a hug!
Info for your readers, a lettuceleaf edge can be done with a regular machine with a fine (narrow) zigzag too.
It is a fun and easy! hem.
The lettuce leaf edging looks great – beautifully modelled!
