New Look 6809 #1
At Christmas my cousin presented me with a picture of a dress from a magazine and asked if I could make it. Good thing that she’s such a good cousin and friend, because on this occasion I said yes! I found a pattern that was similar, and made myself a top to see what the fit was like before lengthening the pattern into a dress.
The pattern is New Look 6809, view B. I made size 12 straight from the packet without any alterations, and it fits me well. If you are taller than 5 feet 2 inches (I really should learn my height in metric) I think you’d need to lenthen the pattern. As always, check your measurements and compare them to the pattern before you cut into your fabric!
The fabric is cotton voile from Spotlight last year. The neckline and sleeves are elasticised, which is really easy to do. Super simple pattern with loads of variations – you’ll be seeing some more over the next couple of days! This one took me less than two hours to sew (that doesn’t include cutting out time).
Looks lovely.
I saw some lovely voile at Spotlight recently, but there was only a little left, and I had no idea what to make with it. I just bought some for a lightweight scarf, but this pattern would have been perfect.
Very cute! I’m elasticating necks and sleeves at the moment – art smocks.
Looks great – lovely and cool,
I really like this!
Totally cute on you and I love the fabric!
