Princesses and frogs
Apparently there is a new movie out about the Princess and the Frog – I didn’t know that when I chose this combination of fabrics to make a tunic and skirt for Stella!
The fabrics are by Heather Ross for her Far, Far Away collection. They are double gauze, which I haven’t sewn before. It was delightful for children’s clothing. Not so sure how it would go for quilting, but it’s lovely and soft and would definitely be beautiful to snuggle under.
The pattern is the Oliver + S Swingset Tunic and Skirt. I have the size 2 – 5 version of this pattern, so Stella’s outfit in size 2 is a little on the large size. But it’s cute and she did agree to model it – sort of!
Once again I used the overlocker to do a rolled hem on the skirt and tunic, and to sew the buttons onto the back of the tunic.
I’m betting that by the end of the summer school holidays both my daughters will have been to see the movie. Back later with Clare’s coordinating outfit!
Do your girls have walk in robes yet ???? and where are your co-ordinating outfits??
I think I have that pattern. Is it bad when you own so many you lose track? Love the close up photo, Stella is beautiful!
Adorable! I looove when you post pretty little things you’ve made for your pretty little ladies. Especially when your pretty little ladies are willing to model. A treat for the eyes and the gentle heart.
Thank you.

oh the dreses are just gorgeous! I have soooo much princess and the pea stashed away for myself and those dresses are just lovely. I love the nice spaghetti straps on them! I love the gauze for clothes as it’s so soft and lovely!
we’ve seen princess and the frog, lovely but a bit too much frog and not enough princess for my little miss so now she’s more excited about seeing alvin and the chipmunks!!!!
well done and what lucky girls you have

Oh, Stella looks so grown up!
Such a lovely outfit Lara, your girls are so lucky. I’m not sure how I feel about the double gauze, is is lovely & soft but maybe i’m just not used to sewing with it.
What beautiful dresses! Just lovely!
