Stella’s Christmas dress – New Look 6745
Stella’s Christmas dress is New Look 6745.
The fabrics are three coordinating prints from Amy Butler’s Daisy Chain line. I dug around in my ribbon stash to find some pregathered eyelet trim to use around the skirt and sleeve hem. The big bow on the back wasn’t on the pattern, but ties come in handy to make things fit better on Stella and I knew she’d like a bow.
The dress buttons down the back – I have finally learned to sew buttons on with my machine, and can’t believe it’s taken me 25 years to attempt it. Easy peasy, and SO much quicker than sewing them all on by hand!
Stella looked lovely in her new “ballerina” dress on Christmas day. As far as she’s concerned, every dress with a full gathered skirt is “ballerina” or “barbie”.
Ohmegosh! She is darling in her new dress. What a sweet Mum you are to make it for her. I used to looooove when my Mum made dresses for me. Made me feel like a real live princess. I remember wearing them to school and sometimes even my teachers noticed them (very discreetly of course). Ah such beautiful memories!

Stella looks like a little garden pixie ! The idea of machine sewing buttons is beyond me….Man I have a lot to learn.
How cute! I am hoping to make my little monkey some summer dresses these holidays. I still sew my buttons on by hand as well. It is a quality control thing, I have never managed to work out how to do it properly.
How do you find the time to make all these dresses!!??
Oh wow Lara! It’s so beautiful! The fabrick is stunning and I love the cut!
Love that last shot… she looks like she could perform up there all day! That is until the dance moves get too adventurous! Beautiful dress Lara. Great work. 🙂
Gorgeous Lara – I love the fabric you’ve used for this one. And you are thumping me now in the dress making stakes!
You may just have convinced me to try sewing buttons on using my machine – really, it’s easy??
