Flower Yoke Top
This is the other project I started on our trip to and from Adelaide during the holidays. I finished off the edging last night at book group.
It needs to be styled differently (over a t-shirt or tank rather than a singlet) however I am very happy with this top! The pattern is Flower Yoke Top by Robyn Chachula, which you can find in the July/August 2009 issue of Crochet Today!
The gentle flare through the body is achieved by increasing the size of the hook that is used every 8-10 rows or so. It gives it lovely drape and makes it simple to work up while remaining interesting with a two-row pattern.
The flower yoke is worked up first, then the body crocheted onto it and worked in the round, and last of all the neckline and arms are edged.
Clare’s top is size 6. It’s almost a little off the shoulder, and the armholes are fairly deep, but I think that it’s designed as a layering piece. That said, as Clare grows this should continue to fit her for ages, and it’s not too holey to be worn without anything underneath. The yarn is 50% soy / 50% cotton from Spotty which I bought for $1 per ball earlier in the year – and I only used 4 1/2 balls to make this. Bargain!
That is beautiful Lara, the shaping of it is really lovely. The bargain price is just the cherry on top!
That is beautiful 🙂
What gets me is how GOOD your girls are at modelling everything! Lovely flowery details…
Does it come in adult sizes…?
Tres gorgeous!
It’s absolutely stunning Lara!! It is so beautiful. You have the most amazingly even and consistent tension in your crochet. I am envious!!
this is stunning! I want one! The colour is beautiful too!
adorable!
Very cute! I had marked that to make for my daughter, but was questioning it. Yours is even cuter. I enjoy seeing all the wonderful things you make. I wish I was half as productive as you are. Thanks for the inspiration.
It is gorgeous – both your daughter and the top!!!
this is so sweet. you are just too clever!!
That’s lovely! So much work must have gone into that.
This is so gorgeous. She looks great in it. Love the detail of the flowers and the way it drapes across the chest. You could pair it with a fitted bandeau top underneath.
Lara, yours is the blog that makes me wish I could crochet … skillful, beautiful crochet like you do. I think that is the most gorgeous garment.
This is beautiful! What a lucky little girl you have.
the top is fabulous. i love it! your daughter is so lucky.
