Pop Purse
Last I heard the name of this purse pattern still hadn’t been decided – so for the moment I’m sticking with Pop Purse!
This is essentially a larger, more structured version of the Barrel Purse. The frame for the Pop Purse is 150mm, so the finished purse is big enough to fit the essentials into it. I did my test sewing using Kaffe Fassett fabrics for the outside.
Nikki has included some terrific variations in this pattern, as usual. I did the version with a detachable, structured wrist strap, and made the purse as structured as possible.
These purse patterns are marked as advanced, and they are certainly not for novices – you definitely need to have experience in sewing – but honestly, the instructions are so comprehensive that don’t let the advanced category put you off giving them a go! Just take your time, read the instructions, and make the simplest versions first. If you are a quilter, so are used to matching pieces accurately and using quarter inch seams, or a dressmaker used to matching convex and concave seams, you can definitely make this purse.
You’ll be happy with the finished result! Pattern available extremely soon from Nicole Mallalieu Design.
looks great Lara – maybe I will have a go one day.
It’s gorgeous Lara, what a cute little accessory to carry.
I have almost finished one of Nicole’s smaller purses. Just the clasp to fasten, I am kind of procrastinating with that part!

It looks fabulous Lara.
Thanks once again super-pattern-tester girl!
Sorry I didn’t get back to you earlier – ther last few days and all-nighters (reminiscent of 3rd year RMIT… without the no-doz) have been a bit crazy. The deadline for getting things freighted up to Sydney came around a bit sooner than I thought. Talk very soon…must teach a class now.
Looks great Lara! I love your fabric choice
