Barrel Purse

Here’s my test sewing version of Nikki‘s latest pattern, the barrel purse.

Barrel purse - front by you.

How cute is this little purse!  It took me around 2 hours to make all up, reading the instructions very carefully as I went along (I take my pattern tester responsibilities very seriously).  That includes the time taken to cut out the pattern, fuse the interfacings, cut them out, pressing, and attaching the frame.  I think that with practice this could probably be made in around an hour – am I right there Nikki?  Here’s the inside:

Barrel Purse - open by you.

It’s a little purse, just the right size for change.  Fits nicely into the palm of your hand.  I used Kaffe Fassett fabrics throughout.

Barrel purse - side by you.

I like absolutely everything about this pattern.  Lots of clever construction tips and detailed instructions that ensured everything came together just right.  When I make more they’ll be even better than this one!  The pattern should be for sale soon over  here.  Thanks Nikki for including me as a tester yet again!  You know I love it.

And the winner is…

All the names went into the hat frog bucket.  Clare did us the honours:

And the winner is... by you.

and the winner is:

Tanya's the winner! by you.

Tanya Holt!  I’ll be in touch very soon Tanya to get your details.  Thanks so much to everyone who commented – Enid obviously holds many memories for a number of people!  I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for more in the op-shop and they are listed on eBay regularly if you are after some Enid Gilchrist pattern books.

Now I need to get ready to have some fun at Kirsty‘s HAC craft session this afternoon. See you later!
