Pussycat bag

Stella turns 2 years old this week.  I have developed a bit of a tradition where I make the girls a dress for their birthday and one for Christmas (yes, I make them dresses at other times too).  I haven’t made a brand new dress (less than three weeks old) for Stella this birthday, but I have made her this little bag.

The pattern is The Owl and the Pussycat by Melly & Me, and the fabrics are Heather Bailey Freshcut with a little bit of Anna Maria Horner’s Chocolate Lollipop.  I machine appliqued and embroidered the face rather than doing it by hand or using buttons for eyes.  I love it – I hope that Stella will too!

May CAL squares

Earlier in the year I was way ahead with these Ravelry crochetalong squares, getting them completed within the first week of the month.  Clearly I have been busy, because these two only just squeaked into May, one finished on the 30th and one on the 31st.  Whew!

The first is called Hint of Spring (hmmm , we’re now into full-on Winter).

This square would have been more effective worked in two or more contrasting solids, rather than the Vintage Hues yarn I’m using for my blanket.  However, that wasn’t an option!

The second square for May (also in Vintage Hues) is the Victorian Dream.

I think this is a very pretty square.  It’s certainly lacy, which will make the blanket a little breezier, but should combine beautifully with the other squares I’ve made so far.  I’m really enjoying the crochetalong!
