Lara’s Haekelbeutel
What a delightful way to combine a love of bags with a love of crochet, by making a crocheted bag!
This is Inga’s Haekelbeutel, crocheted in around 11 balls of Anchor Magicline cotton. This is the 7 round size (the other option is 5 rounds) and boy, is it HUGE! And there were definitely a lot of ends to weave in.
It’s really a market bag. I love the richnes of the colours, and the variations within each square (the yarn is self-striping, for anyone who wondered).
The squares are crocheted together with single crochet – I decided to do this on the outside of the bag to leave obvious bright ridges. There are currently 774 projects featuring this pattern on Ravelry, unsurprisingly. It’s great for a beginner, and lots of fun. Highly recommended – although if I make it again, I’ll do the smaller version. One massive market bag is enough!
I really love this bag Lara! Looks very tropical – though would go very well tramping around the Camberwell Market too! Please come to the next one!
I love this so much I’ve just queued it!
Your talents know no bounds, Lara!
I love it!!
gota get myself over to ravelry
I love this bag! I am not yet one of the 774 queue-ers. But I should be as much as I love crochet, bags, and this bag in particular. My question is did you use balls of self-striping yarn in different colorways, or does the yarn shift colorways on the same ball? Does that make sense? Maybe I should just Google the yarn and see how it’s offered. Duh.
Oh I just love this bag. I love the colours and it looks so practica too!
I would love to have the pattern, where can I purchase it?
Hi Linda – there is a hyperlink directly to it in my blog post – here it is as well http://www.stricksucht.de/anleitungen/crochetedbag.pdf
