Revamping hard rubbish
Although we’re not meant to leave hard rubbish out on the nature strip where I live (you’re meant to book a collection with the local council) people often still do. Thankfully! One of my friends knew I was looking for toys for the cubby house, and spotted a doll’s change table on the nature strip nearby. Hubby was there quick smart with the station wagon to collect it. Sadly I didn’t take a before photo, but rest assured that it was absolutely filthy. Lots of scrubbing, disinfectant and a new change mat and seat later, we had this:
The fabric is vintage drill that originally belonged to my aunt. Since we now had a change table, we also needed some nappies for Clare’s doll. A quick google search for a doll nappy pattern and an hour at the sewing machine later we had this:
And since then Clare’s doll has been doing this:
The box in the bottom right corner is actually the “woshign msheen” for the nappies. This toy is a complete hit! Thanks so much Jane for letting us have this hard rubbish treasure instead of keeping it for your three gorgeous girls!
great save & what a fab toy!
This is lovely, what a waste to throw it away.
What a find!! I love the nappies and new seat and change mat too.. Im sure this will provide hours of fun 🙂
What a fabulous find.
We also have something called a woshign msheen at our house too! Its not far from the didg wosha.
Awww – it’s brilliant! And I can just feel the satisfaction that comes with taking a used filthy toy, and bringing it up to look like this! 🙂 Fabulous – wish I knew where to go find a free one like that for Ronja!
Isn’t recycle stuff great….Like they say someone’s junk is someone else’s treasure and that was a great tresure find.
What a lucky girl! First a great toy and then a mom who can sew baby diapers. When I was that age I would have been beyond excited to get all those goodies!
Fantastic!! What a great overhaul – I’m sure it’s much better than it was when it came out of the factory.
How fantastic is that! I just love the dollies nappys, this would be perfect for my GD Isabella who has a little brother coming in March.
