This is … show off time
When May the cloth be with you announced last week’s theme, I was a bit stuck. Isn’t my whole blog show off time? So like Nikki I decided to show off for someone else.
My dad is 81. After he retired he took up woodturning as a hobby. He progressed from turning bowls to making major pieces of furniture. These are some of his completed projects, mostly made over the last ten to fifteen years.
And in addition to those are my bed, another coffee table, Clare’s bed, Clare’s bedside table/drawers, yet another coffee table, a dining table, a chair, a cheval mirror, another bedside table, a hall table … and there is possibly more. And that is just in MY house – there is yet more beautiful furniture at my parent’s house and at my brother’s house (and in the houses of various relatives around the country).
Yay Dad! What a talent. His current project – a cubby house for the girls for Christmas. Pretty good for an old guy, I reckon! Mum reads my blog, so it’s likely that she’ll drag Dad over to have a look at his work on the internet for the world to see. Thanks again to Angela for hosting “This is” and to Sharon for being the guest hostess with the mostess!
Your DAD made those????!!!! Oh my goodness. He’s amazing.
You dad is so clever. Th furniture he makes is so beautiful!
What beautiful furniture!!! What a talented Dad you have!! Can’t wait to see pics of the Cubby House.
Wow..do you think your dad could maybe furnish my house too?
Wow these are beautiful pieces of furniture. What a talent he has.
Oh my. Those are amazing! I am so impressed with people who can make such wonderfully permanent things. They are like moments frozen in time, forever. (If I may wax poetic for a minute… 🙂 )
I especially love the bookcase. I’m a sucker for a bookcase…
That is such beautiful cabinetry. Its hard to believe he has only taken this up in his retirement. He’s obviously very talented …. and you are lucky to have such lovely pieces for your house!
Wow! Those pieces are stunning! I especially love the lines on that side table. You are so lucky to have such a talented Dad. And I can see where you get your creative talent from. 😉
Oh my goodness. What a wonderfully talented dad! He should be very proud of this woodworking skills. So professional!
What treasures, heirlooms, I would say to hand down for generations! What a dad. How blessed you and your family are.
I don’t suppose your dad would consider the Adopt a Father program would he? He has some serious talent, kudos.
What a great idea, to show off your Dad’s work. I think he is incredible! My favourite is the first picture, the buffet. What an amazing man! You must be very proud of him!
Its lovely to see you support your Dads Hobby. Is he a member of a club? no i am not trying to recruit him, i was just wondering if he was from the same one as me lol wouldnt that be funny? I am a member of the Berwick Woodworkers Club and I am yet to make furniture that good but at least all the fellas there are patient enough with me to lend me a hand while I learn how:) Your a lucky girl, a lot of work goes into making those pieces as you obviously know:) big hi to your dad from some one who wishes she was as skilled as him /wave
Holy Moly! My husband does wood working and even he was impressed with your dad’s work!
wow! firstly they are all beautiful pieces of furniture in their own right, and then what a beautiful legacy they will leave for your family. can’t wait to see the cubby at xmas, especially after you or your mum decorate it. you must be very proud!
Wow, FANTASTIC talent !! It runs in the family !! You are so blessed !
