Mossy Cowl
When in need of some instant satisfaction, try crocheting a scarf! I started the Mossy Cowl on Friday, finished it on Saturday. Apologies in advance for the dodgy photos; the best that I could manage today unfortunately!
This is a great alternative to a scarf – it doesn’t fall off, yet provides that nice warmth around the neck. It’s crocheted in Yarn Barn kid mohair (two strands held together), using a No.8 bamboo hook.
It’s quite difficult to describe the colour of this yarn accurately – none of the photos have it right. It is mostly brown, with flecks of teal, red, and other colours throughout. The stitches are super-easy and effective, with combinations of front post stitches. I hadn’t done any of them before, so it was good to add another type of stitch to my repetoire!
I’m running a little behind with this week’s “this is”, but will get there eventually! Too much to do this evening and too little time. Must dash – goodnight all!
Perfect! I’ve been wanting to make that for ages, but I’m allergic to mohair. I really should try it in a non-mohair yarn!
I came across this site randomly. I’ve saved it to return later when I have time to REALLY enjoy it. You look like my kind of lady! I’ll be in touch. Keep on keepin’ on!
I think the cowl would really suit your colouring – well done crafty extraordinaire! By the way -I’m sorry I didn’t comment on your patchwork – very slack of me – but I was very impressed with your first attempts – can us quilters draw you further into the world of quilting yet? And how is your business going?
Very Nice!
Hi Lara
I wondered if you could help me with a crochet question! I learnt to crochet at Brown Owls (I met you on the way in from the car park. I had the Amy Butler skirt on) and I’m in the middle of crocheting my first beanie for my partner. I think I might have made it too big though!! I have firmly undertaken NOT to undo it becase that would tear my heart out. Do you have any tips for slightly shrinking a finished product? Would hot water do it?
I hope you don’t mind me asking your advice. I remember the bits and pieces that you took to show and tell at Brown Owls and they were lovely. You definately are a pro!
It’s a shame the pictures didn’t show the colour – sounds like a lovely yarn.
The cowl is such a great idea – no unwrapping on a windy day!! I’m a champion dropper and loser of scarves (…and gloves, but I can’t blame the wind for them).
Looks really good…………great colour for u
