Mum’s Patchfolio
This patchfolio was part of Mum’s 70th birthday present.
The fabrics are from the Summer in the City range by Urban Chiks for Moda. The pattern is designed by Craft Apple – she is developing quite a range of lovely patterns. I’ve used a few now, and they have great instructions and have obviously been well-tested.
There are a few little mistakes brought about by my choice of interfacings, but overall I was happy with it and Mum really likes it. It is an excellent pattern and the final result is very sturdy (more so if you actually follow the instructions properly and use the recommended interfacings and board). Moral of the story – do a trial run of any pattern before I make one as a gift and work out my glitches on the sample. Here’s the back:
Mum goes to quite a few meetings (she’s very community minded) so I hope this will come in handy for taking notes and holding agendas.
And don’t forget that you can still make a heart for Mirabel. I crocheted this one on the weekend.
Edited to add: a few people have asked me about the pattern for the crocheted heart. I’m not clever enough to come up with one myself (yet)! This one is from here – but if you do a search for “crochet heart” there are loads of different ones out there.
And more editing to add: the heart is crocheted in Lincraft Bamboozle, a bamboo yarn. It’s what I had in the stash that was red!
You’re an amazing women Lara. I bet you didn’t even need a pattern for that gorgeous heart?? I’ve seen a lot of the folio/diary covers around being the New Year and all, and I really should make one. Yours looks fantastic. Your mum will be the chicest (is that a word?) 70 year old around.
Gorgeous heart. If I was in Melbourne I would go to Meet Me at Mikes and buy that one!
Could you share directions for the pretty red heart you made? It would be perfect for a small Valentine’s Day gift for each lady at the assisted living facility I visit with my therapy dog. You can contact me at my blog, or on Ravelry I’m Leelinau.
I love your heart! I too would buy that one if I could get to Melbourne. Lovely fabrics for your patchfolio, too. Another of my favourite fabric ranges.
Oh my that heart is the sweetest thing ever! I have tried to teach myself to crochet quite a few times but the counting thing always seems to get me.
I love the patchfolio too! Such a beautiul choice of fabrics!
I love the present that you made your mum and the little red crochet heart is gorgeous… Did you use 100% cotton for it?? The heart I mean.
I love the orange and blue combination. It’s so fresh. You’ll have all the ladies asking your Mum where they can get one too!
